Mad God – Phil Tippet

The visuals are created by Phil Tippet, however the sounds and score is not created by their studios but a third party source. Still the visuals are well worth a watch, abstract, gruesome, uncanny and strange. Has some wonderfully rich textures and lighting, some of the shapes, forms and shadows work really well. The non-linearity of the story, a sense of discovery rather than a straight A to B scenario. As though the main character is stumbling through the world and the process of creating the film has a similar feel to it, but it holds together because of its detail and richness. Some good visual metaphors for society today, particularly the section around 15 mins with the stick figures marching in time with the machinery churning away in the background.
